Nantes Diplomatic Archives Centre (CADN)

Nantes Diplomatic Archives Centre preserves the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs services established abroad from 1582 to the present day: embassies, consulates, cultural and cooperation services, and country representations at international organisations. It also preserves the abundant archives of the French protectorates in Tunisia and Morocco, and of French representation in Syria and Lebanon.

Launched at the beginning of the 2017 academic year, the educational service CADN is open to secondary school classes. The quality and diversity of the original documents conserved in the archives enable students to work on many themes in world history, from the early modern period to the present day. Variations are also possible in several subjects, in particular history and geography, and literature and modern languages. The service offers on-site and online workshops, and organises the annual Young Ambassador’s competition.
